Winter Tires and Air Induction Filter

Well Sports Fans, it is almost winter here and time for a tire change.

I believe in winter tires and decided to get a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 for the Mist. I reviewed the tires and having had good luck with a Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 all-weather tires I decided to use them. I had short-listed a set of NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 but my car shop did not have a supplier that sold them.

I had them installed on 1 November and am really pleased. There is not much more tire noise, and the ride feels the same.

The Mist also got some easier breathing installed with a K & N High-Flow Original Lifetime Engine Air Filter - SUBARU IMPREZA H4-2.0L F/I. Part number 33-5064 is available at Candian Tire, though they do not have a cross-reference to this part so you will be using their part number (141-5119-4).

I noticed better and more responsive acceleration and a slight change in the exhaust tone. I think it is an improvement over the OEM filter.

The current average fuel economy is 7.7l /100 km. Will check this in a month to see if there is an improvement in fuel economy.

I will do an update on the tires after the first snow fall or storm to give you Sports Fans an idea of how they work in inclement conditions.

Drive safe and you know where the rubber goes!
